Association football is also popular with names like soccer and football and is a highly popular game played in almost every country. The game is played between two teams at one time, with each team having around 11 players. Soccer is a popular ball game played on rectangular grass field.

Soccer has different rules for different areas, including field of play, number of players, ball, equipments to be used by players, game referee, match duration , rule for star and restart of the game, scoring rules, ball in and out, offside soccer play and so on.

The objective of the game is to score higher than the other team by forcing the ball into the goal position, which is defended by a goalkeeper. The most basic rule is to not to handle the game with hands and instead use the feet and any other part of the body to play. The game is played with each player trying to pass the ball to its team-mate aiming to keep the ball away from opponents. There is no rule for number of goals to be made per game, but whichever team scores higher goals is the clear winner.


The basic player positions include three categories, such as strikers, defenders and midfielders. The work of a striker in a soccer team is to score goals, defenders are the players who work to prevent opponents from making a score and midfielders play the game by keeping ball with them and passing it to the team striker. Further subdivided positions, based on the field area, are central defenders, as well as left midfielder and right midfielder.


Association football or soccer has become a major international game played in a large game field with huge amount of crowd cheering players in their team’s jersey.
